Whether through the soulful vocals and guitar riffs of Graeme Weeks or the punk and indie-inspired guitar work of Dave Little, The Start promises a night filled with the essence of the UK's diverse musical landscape.
Graeme Weeks, the lead vocalist and guitarist, brings a touch of East London's raw energy to the stage. Having played in some of the toughest venues in London, his performance is bound to be a testament to the grit and resilience of his roots in Essex.
Joining Graeme on lead guitar is Dave Little, who found his musical home in The Start with his punk and indie influences. Hailing from the UK, Dave's journey from the late '80s new wave and punk scene to the early grunge/indie explosion in Halifax has shaped his unique and captivating guitar style.
Nathan Hoedeman, the percussionist, adds a dynamic rhythm to The Start's sound. Formerly a soccer mate of Graeme's, Nathan spent his formative years in Glengarry County, known for its Scottish traditions, soccer, and of course, a deep appreciation for British music.
Marianne Dumas, the keyboardist, contributes authentic '80s melodies to the band's sonic palette. Trained under Luc Beaugrand at the University of Montreal, Marianne has immersed herself in various projects, honing her skills in keyboard programming, sound creation, and live performance.
Pulling everything together on bass is Martin Newman, an Ottawa native whose musical journey has taken him around the world. From Berlin to San Diego, Martin's diverse musical background, spanning folk, jazz, and rock, promises to be the cohesive force that binds The Start's performance.
