A concert + conversation around music, books, and the art scene in Sacramento.
About this Event

Abridged by PBS KVIE and Amatoria Fine Art Books invite you to The Stacks, an intimate concert and conversation around music, books, and the art scene in Sacramento. Join us Wednesday, August 12th to welcome Sacramento songwriter and the most famous rockstar you never heard of, Anton Barbeau .

Anton Barbeau is a Sacramento native who has released nearly 40 albums is his storied life, his latest being Glitch Wizard and Dig The Light. He has worked with members of XTC, Cake, The Pretenders, Of Montreal, The Soft Boys, and the Bevis Frond.

While the local newspaper might struggle to spell his name correctly, Anton is a luminary in the English rock scene after living there for 15 years. His exuberant, catchy tunes always have a quirk, but his emphasis on harmony, humor, and a spirit of optimism makes even the dark subjects a joyride. His latest work grapples with grief, the complications of transcendence, and an unhealthy obsession with Steely Dan. We're over the psychdelic moon to invite this legend to the Stacks.

After his exclusive 30-minute set surrounded by a curated selection of books and art, Anton will sit down with Amatoria owner, Miranda Culp to describe his wild path with music making, his apprach to reading and writing, and his perspective on the Sac music scene.

Stick around for refreshments, mingle with the band and fellow fans, and browse amazing books on the arts. We'll provide wine, beer, seltzer water, and snacks. All proceeds from ticket sales benefit the artists (excluding the Eventbrite fees).

Your local PBS affiliate will be there to record the show, which will be featured on Abridged by PBS KVIE's YouTube page.
