So what's the square? Portland's newest hub for music, education, community, and arts at Monument Square. Formerly the home of recording studio Prism Analog, the square is a reimagined creative space currently in-development by the team behind in Falmouth, and their nonprofit arm of operations, (EMA).

We are inviting you to be a part of this community from Day One: your ticket gets you one entry into a raffle for $100 credit towards studio time plus other fabulous prizes from local businesses! (If you can't make this event, but still want to support accessible studio recording & training, )

So how did this happen? After hearing Prism was planning to go out of business, EMA Founder Sam Monaco embarked on a months-long campaign to preserve this space as a resource for our creative community. The most urgent priority was to serve the demand for educational programming in audio engineering and music production — demand that exceeded our existing capacity in EMA's partnerships with the Maine College of Art & Design, and Maine Academy of Modern Music. EMA has also been pursuing partnerships with Portland High School, the Boys and Girls Club, and many other organizations based downtown, to offer professional studio instruction and subsidized recording time. However, transportation to Falmouth has presented a literal roadblock for many of the communities we aim to serve.

The studio at 34 Preble presents the perfect opportunity to meet those communities within walking distance, and to replicate the model we established at Monaco Studios: 10% of all commercial income goes directly to the Equal Measure Arts financial aid fund. Our vision is to expand on the foundation of the space as a music studio; we have established a network of professionals & instructors ready to assist with everything from podcast production, to photo/video shoots, and even immersive multimedia installations with our creative partners PORTL&.
