Enter a world where spontaneous cello, keys, voice, whistling, recorder and nose flute - with or without original electronic accompaniments - overwhelm through a full range of emotive states and stylistic variety - especially the classical and African. A time and space specific live creation that journeys straight to the heart like few other performance experiences do.
Bio
Francois le Roux, aka the HA!Man. is a 1966 Johannesburg-born son of a church minister and music teacher. His musical gift was recognized at age three when his first improvised piano pieces took shape. He studied cello and piano throughout his school years and appeared as a young soloist with orchestras, and his improvisation skills were honed as an appointed church organist since age 10. During the dying years of Apartheid he went through a spiritual crisis that eventually took him on a career path of spontaneous music making, also expanding into spontaneous dancing, writing and visual art. At first only acoustic, he went on to employ electronic recording for accompaniments during his ever evolving performances and the creation of soundtracks for numerous stage productions, films and videos. His organizational skills landed him music directorships for celebratory events of national importance in South Africa as well as once in the Royal Albert Hall, London. His broad interests turned him into a special artistic guest at major seminars. Two of his trademark choral songs, Beautiful Land and Her Time Has Come, featured at mass choir events and international competitions over the years. Yet he remains the personal networker who brings a world-class performance experience to houses and smaller venues globally. His workshops inspires young and old at schools, universities and community organizations and as a full on improvisator, he collaborated with many solo artists, choirs, ensembles and orchestras - always delivering the magic of full-bodied artistic works, created within the flowing depth of the present moment.
