Join Caroline as she discusses The Spinning House, revealing how Cambridge University once imprisoned women suspected of 'evil'.
About this Event

Caroline Biggs grew up in and around Cambridge. She was a former Trustee of The Museum of Cambridge, where she organised the History Festival to address the massive imbalance between historical knowledge about the ‘town’ as opposed to the ‘gown.’ She has studied Creative Non-Fiction at Cambridge University and has an MA in Creative Non-Fiction from UEA.

She will be talking about her new book, The Spinning House, which exposes how the University of Cambridge once imprisoned women suspected of ‘evil.’ Mistakes were made. Violence and legal action from the townspeople followed until finally an Act of Parliament was passed to put an end to the jurisdiction of the university over the women of Cambridge.
