The Space Between is an opportunity to gather in community with meaningful ritual, to sing, to embody rhythm, to dance and to deeply rest. It is a chance to delve deep into the still pool within, to connect with each other and to something greater.Through the structured layers of rhythm in Taketina to the open freedom of Ecstatic dance, participants will be guided into a journey of deep listening, connection and discovery. Please bring a yoga mat, blanket, pillow etc for extra comfort and warmth during the restorative practice. Beginners are welcome.
Testimonials-
"I had never heard of TAKETINA but after my first session I was hooked. Never before had I experienced such a meditative yet stimulating and utterly grounding practice all in one. Justin is an incredible facilitator. To be in his grounded and peaceful presence is a tonic alone for the often frantic, busy world." Emily (musician)
"Taketina has transformed my approach to music and life. This process has facilitated deep healing through entraining my nervous system towards regulation and social connection . Through a variety of interactive activities involving voice activation, rhythm awareness and movement I was taken gradually into my inner unprocessed, suppressed emotions and memories which I could then liberate from my system. As a musician Taketina, took my creative expression to another level by allowing me to not only understand more about polyrhythms but actually embody this wisdom so when I create music it comes from an innocent place where mystery dwells. I would recommend Taketina to anyone interested in inner exploration, wellbeing, and personal growth and fun!" Kamil (Psychologist)
TAKETINA- We will explore the Taketina rhythm process as developed by Reinhard Flatischler. In this process participants begin with a mantra, then we add simple repetitive steps, claps and call and response singing. By engaging with these primal rhythmic movements using multiple layers, we are required to step out of the rational mind, to let go of our habitual linear, learning patterns and enter an embodied listening that engages the senses as well as our intuition. This enables us to enter simultaneous awareness, a place of both deep connection and emptiness. Taketina is a powerful tool for emergent rhythmic consciusness and trance like states. Participants are encouraged to make mistakes whilst remaining playful and curious. It is a practice that is appropriate for beginners and the experienced to share.

ECSTATIC DANCE- Participants will be led into a free expressive dance journey that explores the space between breath, our bodies and each other. Set to specifically chosen pieces of evocative and powerful music, participants will be guided into a somatic journey that explores the letting go of self directed dance and leaning in to the forces that dance us.
Ecstatic dance is a powerful and complimentary contrast to the structure and unison work of Taketina.
DEEP REST- Integration is a crucial part of somatic learning and a restorative practice will be an important aspect to this workshop. The Deep Rest will be accompanied by silence as well as ambient live music, a sound healing journey that features Charlottes beautiful voice, crystal bowls, gongs, piano and flute.
