Experience an insightful private art exhibit tour, create recycled paper and make connections over drinks and small plates
About this Event

Join us for three powerful experiences in one.

We’ll start with an enriching and thought-provoking tour of Andrea Chung’s “Between Too Late and Too Early” exhibit at the Museum of Contemporary Art in North Miami. Throughout the experience, we’ll connect with each other and delve deeper into the themes of Chung’s work through paired and small-group conversations.

Drawing from the Caribbean’s history of slavery, colonialism, and its more contemporary struggles with climate change and the tourism industry, Chung creates visually rich objects that entice the viewer at first glance, revealing complex subject matter upon further engagement. The artist explores materials that are transient and shift form, such as sugar, and reconfigures archival images through vibrant collage.

The exhibition features a wide range of Chung’s practice, including early videos and works on paper that explore the impact of tourism on the Caribbean. It also includes a large-scale installation rooted in Black speculative fiction and several series that explore the representation of Black women’s labor, including the rich and layered history of midwifery.

Following this interactive tour, we’ll express our own creativity through a group art project.

Inspired by Chung’s cyanotypes printed on recycled paper, and under the guidance of a MOCA teaching artist, we will make our own paper — repurposing the materials from We Met in Miami’s first year that otherwise would not be fully utilized.

Finally, we will head next door to Sapori Miami by Café Crème for drinks, small plates and deeper connection.

We’ll break the ice with a welcome drink and Italian finger foods, and then settle in for intimate conversations over a glass of wine and shared hors d'oeuvres, including tuna tartare and handmade gnocchi. See the full menu below.

As always, we’ll wear wristbands that show others what we’re looking for: green for love, blue for friendship and rainbow for members of the LGBTQIA+ community. (Yes, you can wear more than one!) And if you meet someone special, we’ll help you reconnect after the event.

Free parking is available throughout downtown North Miami.

This premium experience is included with the purchase of an annual membership to We Met in Miami. Join for deeper, more meaningful connection and community.
