About this Event
This event takes place on Tuesday the 26th of May and is the sixth of MathsWorld London's year long programme of monthly evening talks and events.
Beyond counting rhythm and measuring frequencies, what is the mathematics lurking behind sound and music?
These are deep waters, but Ben will explore some of the nagging questions:
- How many notes are in an octave? Why those ones?
- What is it about waves?
- Is there a sound of silence?
Expect some music along the way.
Visitors will have the opportunity to arrive from 18.15 to explore the ground floor of MathsWorld before entry to the upstairs talk area opens at 18:50. The talk will begin at approximately 19.00 and last approximately 1 hour, allowing some time to explore the centre afterwards before we close at 21:00.
