Join internationally acclaimed Haisla and Heiltsuk author for an unforgettable evening exploring the power of Indigenous storytelling, mythology, and imagination.
Celebrated for her award-winning novels and the bestselling trilogy, Robinson returns with a sweeping new fantasy inspired by the Indigenous cultures of the Pacific Northwest. Her newest novel, , follows Yuala, a young woman whose unusual connection to creatures feared as monsters may hold the key to her people's survival.
The evening will begin with a welcome from Manuel Axel Strain. Then, in conversation with Secwépemc and St’at’imc writer Julian Brave NoiseCat, Robinson will discuss the origins of her richly imagined world, the role of Indigenous mythology in contemporary fantasy, and the enduring importance of stories as vessels for culture, identity, and resilience.
The evening will include an engaging conversation, an audience Q&A, and a post-event reception and book signing with Eden Robinson. Books by both Robinson and NoiseCat will be available for purchase on-site.
Eden Robinson is one of Canada's most celebrated literary voices. Her work has earned numerous honours, including the Ethel Wilson Fiction Prize, the Writers' Trust Fellowship, and the 2024 Indspire Award for her contributions to Indigenous arts and storytelling.
This event is co-presented with generous support from Penguin Random House, SFU Library, SFU LIVE, Capilano University Library, and Talking Stick Festival.

In-Person Accessibility
The event will be hosted at the Fei and Milton Wong Experimental Theatre, located on the B2 level of SFU Goldcorp Centre for the Arts (GCA)
The SFU GCA is accessible at street level on the Hastings side or via a ramp on the Cordova Street Courtyard side. There are 2 ramp entry points, one is located against the building, near the entrance to the Woodward’s Westbank Atrium (which houses Nesters) and one is located against the building, beside the alley. Both the Hastings doors and the Cordova Coutryard doors can be operated by accessibility buttons located beside the doorways.
Washrooms
- Public washrooms are available on the B2, 2, 3 and 4 levels. All public washrooms are equipped with wheelchair accessible stalls.
- A Gender Neutral washroom is available on the B2 level.
Parking
Several EasyPark lots are located near GCA (click the links below for daily rates and directions for each lot):
- Lot 31 - 160 Water Street - directly north of Goldcorp Centre for the Arts, entrance on water street
- Lot 126 - 151 West Cordova Street - also directly north of Goldcorp Centre for the Arts, entrance on Cordova Street
- Lot 2 - 150 West Pender - lot on Pender and Cambie, which is only a few minutes’ walk from Goldcorp Centre for the Arts
Please note that other parking options are available around Goldcorp Centre for the Arts, including street parking and other parking lots.
Bus and skytrain
SFU’s Goldcorp Centre for the Arts is accessible by multiple bus routes. The centre is also a walkable distance from the Waterfront and Stadium-Chinatown Skytrain Stations.
Cycling
Public bike racks are located near the Cordova entrance of Goldcorp Centre for the Arts.
