About this Event

On Friday July 23, experience the latest digital creation of Robert Moses’ KIN titled “The Soft Solace of a Slightly Descended Lost Life (Suck It)”. This new work, RMK’s most ambitious video project to date, focuses on the fractured heritage, risk, and the theft of solace & safety from everyday life. Filmed in April 2021, “Soft Solace” is a multidisciplinary film poetically transcribed through original choreography, spoken word, suspended sculptural installation, projection, and videography.

This event is hybrid, available both in-person and online. The live screening will take place at the Joe Goode Annex in San Francisco. Virtual attendees will have on-demand access to the film through July 31.

The evening will be live-streamed on YouTube with an introduction from Robert Moses, where you will learn about the creative process, what inspired the piece, and be the first to experience raw, unused footage from the video shoot. After the screening, stay for an interactive Q&A with Moses about the unique process of making dance for film and the themes that inspired “Soft Solace.” The live Q&A will be hosted on Zoom. A reception will follow for those attending in person.

“Soft Solace” originally premiered in June 2021. This is the first Company screening of the film.
