The Social Media Lab

The Social Media Lab will connect AmTech Career Academy and West Texas A&M University College of Business students with local business owners for hands-on, one-on-one or small-group social media assistance. Rather than a traditional classroom-style workshop, business owners will be paired with students based on their specific social media needs and the students’ areas of experience and interest.

Prior to the event, participating students will identify the social media platforms and skills they are most comfortable assisting with, such as Instagram, Facebook, Canva, content creation, video/Reels, photography, and other digital marketing skills. Business owners will also complete a brief intake form identifying their current social media presence and the areas where they would like assistance.

Based on this information, students and businesses will be matched for scheduled working sessions during the Social Media Lab. Students will work directly with business owners to provide hands-on guidance, help them create or improve content, and demonstrate tools and techniques they can continue using after the session.

The goal of the Social Media Lab is to provide local businesses with practical social media support while giving students an opportunity to apply their skills in a real-world, client-facing environment.
