The Slackers have been called “the sound of New York” by the New York Times. They were described by Brooklyn Vegan as a “clean mix of ska, reggae, and soul that gets dirtied up by Vic Ruggiero’s tough New York accent.” Decades into their run, The Washington Post noted that the Slackers “remain at the top of their game.”
Since forming in 1991, the Slackers have released 16 albums, 5 EPs, and countless singles. They have performed thousands of energetic concerts for their global fanbase and remain unstoppably prolific.
In their 2025 releases on Pirates Press Records, the EP “Money is King,” an indictment of the powerful as only the Slackers can do, went straight to the top 25 of the Submodern Reports album list. Their single “My Last Star” was a tribute to Hepcat's Greg Lee, fulfilling the final creative vision of the late singer. The 11-track compilation “Lost and Found Vol.2” had a surprise boogaloo breakout streaming hit with “Diskambobulated.”
Their April 2022 album, “Don’t Let the Sunlight Fool Ya,” was the Slackers’ first charting record and qualified the sextet as a Billboard “new artist” – 30-plus years into their career! The power of the Slackers is nothing new to their fans, which number over 150K on social and thousands more via their direct-to-fan newsletter.
The Slackers regularly perform at clubs and festivals around the world. They’ve sold out multiple curated "slackfests" in London, Chicago, Austin, and Anaheim, as well as "5 days in LA" and their "5 boro tour" of New York City. They are currently booking 80 shows worldwide in 2026.
Los Domingueros
Los Domingueros was started by Josue Urrutia in August of 2021. Some bands start by accident. We literally did.
In June of 2021, Josue survived an accident that put him on a soul searching journey, the answer: fight depression through the beauty of SkaQ
Los Domingueros are New México's premier Latin Ska and Cali Reggae band! Blending Latin Ska, punk, Cali reggae, Rock and a little bit of Cumbia, the band has created a borderland sound that is sure to get everyone moving. In their short time as band they have had many achievements including playing with Legends such as The Marley Brothers, Cafe Tacvba, Caifanes, Tropidelic, The English Beat, Panteon Rococo, Save Ferris, The Mad Caddies, Through The Roots, and more.
The band has been nominated for several NM Music awards as well as NM Entertainment magazine top Latin act nominations and have even appeared in video game soundtracks. Los Domingueros are currently prepping for their first west coast tour to help promote their upcoming debut album and had the honor of working with Audiomech (Mgk/Travis Barker) on it. The band proudly includes world touring great John "Dino " Andino of Thrash legends Tourniquet on bass. Combine that with Ciudad Juárez native and Singer/Songwriter Josué Urrutia's soulfull, melodic vocals and hopeful lyrics and you get THE Latin Ska band that you will definitely not want to miss!
Los Domingueros have been featured in Albuquerque The Magazine's July 2022 edition, the Albuquerque journal,Telemundo, Krqe and nationally on Yahoo and released a signature beer in collaboration with Turquoise Trail Brewing. Catch them at one of their events in New Mexico, or nation wide on one of their tours!
