About this Event
An audio-visual presentation in the San Damiano 2 trailer, using Alex Charns' maternal relatives, the Gwiazdowski family, as examples of Catholic Poles who risked their lives to save their Jewish neighbors from the Nazis with the moral complexity that their patriarch, Alexander Peter Gwiazdowski was an antisemite before and after WWII. We will explore the role of past Roman Catholic teachings in establishing anti-Judaism. Copies of Charns' WWII memoir "Listening to Chopin While Fighting Nazis" and novella "Twenty Angels on Her Roof" available in exchange for donations to Vad Vashem or U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum. This program is sponsored by the IC Justice, Peace, Integrity of Creation ministry.
