FAQsTickets and guests
How many guests can I bring to the graduation ceremony?
Unfortunately, due to the limited capacity in the cathedral, graduands are limited to two guest tickets each. Any additional friends/family members are welcome to join you back at the Cutlers' Hall following the ceremony for photographs and a complimentary glass of fizz.
How do I book my tickets?
When you register your attendance, please book the amount of tickets you would like in total (including yourself). For example, if you will be attending with two guests, you will book three tickets. However, if you only need one guest ticket, you would book two tickets in total.
Before the ceremonyHow do I order my graduation robes?
The ceremony is formal dress and all graduands are required to wear graduation robes. Please visit Ede & Ravenscroft's website to pre-order your cap and gown for the ceremony.
Remeber to have your measurements (height and head circumference) and details of your qualification to hand when booking your robes. If you are unsure as to the qualification you should select, please speak to your tutor.
*Please note that bookings for robes close three weeks before the graduation ceremony date, so make sure to allow plenty of time to order your cap and gown.*
Are the venues accessible?
Both the cathedral and Cutlers' Hall are accessible venues and include:
- Step-free access (ramp at Cutlers' Hall/ground level access to Cathedral)
- Hearing-aid induction loops
If you or your guests have any specific access requirements please let us know when you book your tickets so we can make your day as hassle-free as possible.
What are my transport/parking options for getting to and from the event?
Parking near the cathedral is fairly limited, and much of the on-street/pay and display parking is restricted to a couple of hours. However, there are numerous multi-story car parks within walking distance (NCP Campo Lane, NCP Hartshead Square). The Cutlers' Hall offer a reduced-rate all day parking scheme for a nearby car park - please click here for more details.
Alternatively, the cathedral/Cutlers' Hall is ideally situated for access by public transport, with a tram stop and numerous bus stops right outside.
Where do I go to collect my cap and gown/have my professional photographs taken?
Ede & Ravenscroft will have a robing and photography area set up in Cutlers' Hall where you will collect and return your robes. There will be plenty of college staff on hand to point you in the right direction.
Do I need to book a slot to have my photograph taken?
No - you can have your professional photographs taken as soon as you have collected your gown. However, you can pre-order photographs and additional prints from Ede & Ravenscroft in advance.
Will I get my professional photographs on the day?
Due to there being so many photographs to process, prints are not handed out on the day. You can order prints at the venue and these (along with any pre-ordered photographs) will be posted out to you after the ceremony. Please note that due to supply issues photos may take up to 12 weeks to arrive.
Can I leave Cutlers' Hall in my robes before the ceremony?
Absolutely! You're welcome to leave Cutlers' Hall wearing your cap and gown for a coffee or additional photo opportunities, just make sure you're at the cathedral by 12pm so you can be seated with plenty of time. Any of your guests attending the cathedral ceremony will need to be seated well in advance as well.
During the ceremonyHow will I know what to do during the ceremony?
Don’t worry – it’s not as complicated as you might think. Once you’re seated, a member of college staff will guide you up to the side of the stage in your course group (along with your course tutor), and from there you’ll be called up individually to be congratulated and receive your scroll.
Will I be seated with my guests during the ceremony?
No – all of the graduands sit together in their course groups, whilst your guests will sit behind the graduands to watch you process in and walk across the stage.
Can my guests take pictures/videos during the ceremony?
Guests are welcome to take photos and videos as long as they turn the flash off and don't impede others view when taking photos.
After the ceremonyNow the celebrations can really begin! Take this time to grab some photos with your friends, family and classmates outside the cathedral, and then join us back at Cutlers' Hall for a glass of fizz.
What do I do with my robes once I've graduated?
Please return your robes back to the same room where you collected them in Cutlers' Hall.
When will I receive my certificate?
It’s a little known fact that the scroll you pose with for your photos isn’t actually your official certificate! It’s just a prop representing your ‘graduate papers’ - your full transcript and certificate will be sent out separately through the post.
Who can I speak to if I have any questions?
Please email [email protected] with any further questions.
