The Sharing Lab: Creating the Future of the Alexander Technique

Join this inclusive and explorative space for sharing the many styles and forms of the Alexander Technique, and for furthering our collective skill in presenting the Work to the world through Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion practices.

AT Liberation Project and Alexander Alliance International join together to host this non-hierarchical gathering for all those interested in sharing experiences, ongoing questions, and most effective teaching tools and strategies in support of making the Work more accessible in today’s world.

Each session will focus around a central theme or question, chosen by the attendees. We will work together, in one space, to share our most effective material, forms, and teaching practices, as well as exploring new strategies for addressing issues of diversity, inclusion, and equity within the Work and how it is expressed in the world. Together, we will create new material and paradigms which we can take back to share with our local AT communities.

As we gather - with open-mindedness, creativity, curiosity, skill, and heart - who knows what might happen?

We might:

• learn how to do something differently
• experience very different styles, and starting learning how to do them
• expand our ideas of what the Work looks and feels like
• find new vocabulary
• learn from the experience of other teachers
• learn how students/teachers new to the Work understand it in today’s culture
• notice habitual ways of understanding the principles, and make new choices
• re-define what the Work is about for each of us
• learn skills for taking the Work into new communities
• learn some practical tools for making our practice more DEI-informed
• make new friends and connect to the AT community in a new way
• be inspired to transform our own practices
• fall in love with the Work (all over again)

We invite you to be a part of this alternative, non-hierarchical way of gathering as a community. Come help us create this new experience.

PLUS - THERE IS A SPECIAL ADD-ON EVENT FOR PARTICIPANTS:

Friday August 9 & Saturday August10, 10 - 7 Santa Fe, NM

This 2 day intensive offers the essential technical skills needed for contemporary-style teaching through activities, situations, and groups, taught by CAS Director Robyn Avalon and the CAS faculty.

Robyn teaches this highly experiential intensive throughout the US and Europe to Alexander Teachers and Trainees who want to learn the Art of Group Teaching and the technical skills for teaching through activities and situations. This course is usually offered over 3 weekends, but Event Participants will have a unique opportunity to learn the fundamental skills and pedagogical structures, to take home and practice. It's the perfect compliment to the Sharing Lab experience, as participants will receive individual technical coaching to support their new skills and ideas.
