In the tradition of Kashmiri Shaivism shaktipat refers to the transmission of energy from a spiritual teacher to a spiritual aspirant. It is an event that not only takes place in the consciousness but also refers to subtle beneficial forces taking root within the disciple, according to the will of the Divine. A disciple’s elevated consciousness and deepened level of spirituality are the intended effects.
Here is your chance to combine a metaphysical retreat with an STS community reunion and summer gathering. This unified experience addresses the spiritual and material dimensions of the human being – a need of the soul to commune with the Divine in meditation and a need of the heart to commune with friends in meaningful socialization.
The first 5 days of this 8 day retreat will be dedicated to the Shaktipat meditation retreat where several hours each day will be spent in meditation with Somananda, doing your own personal spiritual practice and observing mauna, or sacred silence. Mid-day on day 5, Soma will end mauna and the STS Reunion activities will commence.

The Shaktipat Retreat will still continue during the STS Reunion time. You will participate in morning yoga practice, meditation sessions with Soma, evening satsangs and other tantric practices.
There will be introductory teachings for beginners who do not yet have a spiritual practice, optional daily Hatha Yoga and self-study (svadhyaya) sessions, designated hours of meditation with Somananda every day, and scheduled evening satsangs. Silence, or mauna, will be practiced in the first 5 days until lunch break.
