M.K. Thekkumkattil’s debut The Sexuality of Care is a unique, conversation-starting essay collection about critical care work, kink practices, and how one might transform the other.
Join us for readings by and conversations with M.K. Thekkumkattil, Eman Abdelhadi and Anne about dreaming care work futures and hospital abolition. There will be a Q&A, and a writing exercise on dreaming collective care work futures. Programming from 6-7:30, and book signing/mingling from 7:30-8pm.
Masks will be required and extra masks will be provided. The entrance has a ramp with a small curb at the bottom of the ramp - if you are a wheelchair user, we can assist you to get onto the ramp. The inside of the venue is fully wheelchair accessible.

M. K. Thekkumkattil is a trans, disabled, kinky writer and nurse whose liberation is bound up with Palestinian liberation. They have received support from SmokeLong Quarterly, Tin House, Queer Art Mentorship, Lambda Literary, VONA, and Writing by Writers. Their work can be found in the chapbook Weaving Liberation as well as in Black Warrior Review, smoke and mold, ___figuration, Year Round Queer, and In the Future There Are No Hospitals.
Eman Abdelhadi is a Chicago-based scholar, organizer, and writer. An Assistant Professor of Sociology at the University of Chicago, she is author of the forthcoming Impossible Futures: Why Women Leave Muslim Communities (University of Chicago Press) and co-author of the sci-fi novel Everything for Everyone: An Oral History of the New York Commune 2052-2072 (Common Notions, 2022). She co-edited a volume on gender and sexuality in Muslim communities for Brill (forthcoming), co-edited a volume on Queer Palestine for Pinko, and guest edited a special issue called “Palestine as Paradigm” for Public Humanities.
Anne is a queer writer, nurse and organizer. Her poetry has been published in multiple anthologies.
