Melbourne’s heavy-groove combo 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧 𝐔𝐩𝐬 are taking their new EP “Fight Night” on the road and stopping in for a one-off show at Lazy Bones Lounge.
The bands sound journeys from 𝙙𝙚𝙚𝙥-𝙛𝙪𝙣𝙠, 𝙩𝙤 𝙥𝙨𝙮𝙘𝙝𝙚𝙙𝙚𝙡𝙞𝙘 𝙛𝙪𝙯𝙯 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙤𝙣 𝙩𝙤 𝙨𝙮𝙣𝙩𝙝 𝙡𝙖𝙙𝙚𝙣 𝙥𝙤𝙨𝙩-𝙥𝙨𝙮𝙘𝙝, and they’ve shared bills with artists including Budos Band, Khruangbin and King Gizzard.
Recorded and filmed in one long session at the Fight Night studios in Abbotsford VIC, the new EP sees the band extend beyond the psych-jazz of their previous releases, to venture into kraut-rock and synth-wave. The result is 5 synth heavy tracks that sit somewhere between the retro-futuristic soundscape of an 80s sci-fi film and the fury of guitar driven psych-rock.
The Seven Ups music has been featured in Wax Poetics (USA), album of the week (thrice) on PBS fm, album of the week on Eastside FM and Beat magazine, top 10 on KEXP (USA) and RRR (Melb), nominated for the Australian Music Prize and their music continues to receive airplay on BBC Radio, KEXP, Triple J, and community radio around Aus. The Seven Ups music has also been featured in Netflix and Amazon Prime shows.
Career highlights for the band so far have also included festival spots at Meredith Music Festival VIC, Womadelaide SA, Blues on Broadbeach QLD, Riverboats VIC, Queenscliff Music Festival VIC, Strawberry Fields NSW, Bleach Festival QLD, Rainbow Serpent VIC, Falls Festival VIC, White Night VIC, Moomba VIC, Subsonic NSW, Bello Winter Festival NSW, St Kilda Festival and many more.
Supports on the night will be very special guests The Toothpicks.
