This exhibition showcases more than sixty paintings from Puerto Rico's Museo de Arte de Ponce, one of the Caribbean's leading cultural institutions. The collection ranges from the Italian Renaissance to contemporary Puerto Rican art, reflecting the vision and multifaceted taste of philanthropist Luis A. Ferre, who founded the museum in 1959. Works by such celebrated artists as Peter Paul Rubens, Joshua Reynolds, Elisabeth Louise Vigee-LeBrun, and John Singer Sargent will be joined by select Spanish paintings and sculpture that complement the Meadows's collection. This exhibition has been organized by the Museo de Arte de Ponce in collaboration with the Meadows Museum, SMU, Dallas, and is funded by a generous gift from The Meadows Foundation. This project is supported in part by the National Endowment for the Arts. Promotional support is provided by the Dallas Tourism Public Improvement District.
