What does a guitar player, traveling Reverend, and the first female mayor in the state of Georgia all have in common? They are part of Smyrna’s all-new “Secrets Of Smyrna” street-theatre tour held on Saturday and Sunday, October 16 & 17 starting at Smyrna City Hall. Originally scheduled in 2020, Smyrna Arts Council president, Joan Stuart, is excited to bring this immersive street-theatre tour to the citizens of Smyrna as a part of the council’s mission to cultivate and promote the arts for the enjoyment and enrichment of our diverse community.
Dr. James Allen Nelson, playwright, and director for Atlanta Theatre-To-Go, the company producing the show, said “tour participants will be immersed in the secrets Smyrna holds by meeting Smyrna’s most influential people of the past; and, although this is not a ghost tour, people will ‘meet’ some of the people who are buried in the Smyrna Memorial Cemetery.”
According to Lisa Hawk, Chair of the event and Smyrna Arts Council board member, the street-theatre tour is a half-mile and 45-minute walking tour beginning at Smyrna’s City Hall, 2800 King Street. Participants should wear comfortable walking shoes and the tour is a rain or shine event.
