About this Event
The Scientific American 2025 Nonfiction Panel
Featuring authors Marguerite Holloway, Maris Kreizman, Nathan Lent, and Kate Marvel
Moderated by Brianne Kane
Scientific American, the oldest continuously published magazine in the U.S., partners with Greenlight to highlight some of the best nonfiction published in 2025, in keeping with its mission of sharing the most exciting discoveries, innovations and ideas shaping our world today. Tonight's panel of authors includes Marguerite Holloway, author of Take to the Trees, a lyrical work of memoir and reportage that sounds the alarm about rapid arboreal decline while also offering hope about how we might care for our forests and ourselves; Maris Kreizman, author of the debut essay collection I Want To Burn This Place Down, an introspective, searing account of the life experiences that have pushed this former “good Democrat” even further to the political left; Nathan Lent, author of The Sexual Evolution, a journey through the animal world, from insects to apes, revealing what the incredible array of sexual diversity can teach us about our own diverse beauty; and Kate Marvel, author of Human Nature, a captivating exploration of climate change that uses nine different emotions to better understand the science, history, and future of our evolving planet. The discussion is moderated Brianne Kane, Editorial Workflow and Rights Manager at Scientific American, before an audience Q&A and signings.
