Program Description
As we make our way back into spaces where we lead students in-person, and aim to continue to deepen the experience of all students, whether in-person or online, an up-to-date training that incorporates trauma-informed practices and awareness of personal space in assisting techniques from language cues to hands-on assisting is critical for yoga teachers.
Learn to assist masterfully in this highly interactive course designed to help increase teachers’ confidence and students’ engagement, stability and alignment. Giving clear directions and leading in ways that are easy to follow are essential skills for all yoga teachers. We'll review exceptional languaging, verbal cues, and assists for 26 primary postures. The three reasons for learning to assist masterfully are to ensure the physical safety of students, increase students’ level of engagement or flexibility, and deepen students’ inner experience. By assisting, we mean using all the techniques available to us to communicate with our students.
Upon completion, trainees will have a greater understanding of:
The four aspects of a posture
When and how to offer assists
How to skillfully apply the six categories of assists
How to use the 14 Presspoints
When and how to use physical adjustments appropriately
How to improve your sensitivity for manipulations
How to protect themselves when assisting
We welcome 200-hour+ trained teachers from all traditions to join this program.
