SAVANNAH SIPPING SOCIETY by JONES | HOPE | WOOTEN.February 27- March 9, 2024
In this delightful, laugh a minute comedy, four unique southern women, all needing to escape the sameness of their day-to-day routines, are drawn together by fate – and an impromptu happy hour – and decide it’s high time to reclaim the enthusiasm for life they’ve lost through the years. Over the course of six months, filled with laughter, hilarious misadventures, and the occasional liquid refreshments, these women successfully bond and find the confidence to jumpstart their new lives. Together they discover lasting friendships and a renewed determination to live in the moment – and most importantly, realize it’s never too late to make new old friends.

CHARACTER BREAKDOWNS:
BE ADVISED:
At least 3 of the 4 characters (Randa, Marlafaye, Jinx) will require being comfortable with ruckus physical comedy (borderline slapstick).
Stage chemistry is critical for this show! Therefore, when casting, having positive and energetic chemistry between characters (and actors) will be considered just as much as giving dynamic and inspiring character portrayals.
All roles are open to any race, ethnicity, or ability.
NO roles have been precast!!
*RANDA COVINGTON (Female, presenting Early 40s - Early 50s, any Race) A high-strung perfectionist and workaholic, struggling to cope with a surprise career derailment that unfortunately reveals that she has no life and no idea how to get one. She is very proper, uptight, and border-lining on OCD. Yet at the same time she’s prone to an occasional but sudden emotional outburst.
*DOT HAIGLER (Female, presenting 60s - 70s+, oldest character, any race) A warm but somewhat eccentric grandmotherly type. She is still reeling from her husband’s recent demise and the loss of their plans for an idyllic retirement. She now faces the unsettling prospect of starting a new life from scratch and doing it all alone.
*MARLAFAYE MOSLEY (Female, presenting Late 40s – 50s, second oldest character, any race) She’s earthy, boisterous, and crass yet very fun loving. She’s a good ol’ Texas gal and has blasted into Savannah in the wake of losing her tomcattin’ husband to a 23-year-old, hot dental hygienist. The strength of her desire to establish a new life is equal only by her desire to wreak righteous revenge on her Ex.
*JINX JENKINS (Female, Early 40s - Early 50s, any race) A spunky ball of fire who sells make-up on her day job yet has decided to become a much needed life coach for the other woman. She is bright, lively, and flirtatious and wants to live life to the max. Nevertheless, her determination to help the other ladies blinds her to the realization that she’s the one most in need of sage advice.
Savannah Sipping Society is presented by special arrangement with Dramatists Play Service, Inc., New York.
