Digging bands like The Sonics, The Kinks, The Seeds, Remains, Shadows Of Knight, Blues Magoos, The Standells, Kenny & The Kasuals, The Byrds and tons more the band started rehearsing in March 1993 with all the well-known and beloved cover-versions. Half a year later they decided to call themselves THE SATELLITERS and started to develop their own interpretations from first trashy and then originated 60's influenced garage-rock to create their very own “60s-garage-acid”-style. THE SATELLITERS always tried to give all their influences enough space in their song-writing, always keeping touch to the sound of original US-60s-garage-bands. From R'N'B to organ-driven garage tunes or psyched-out material: the mixture of all the beloved styles of the 60's is what they like and play!!!
First releases on international and german garage-labels followed soon, before they achieved a record-deal with California´s cult-garage-surf-exotica label DIONYSUS RECORDS. After 9 critically acclaimed LPs/ CDs (raving reviews in CREEM, ROLLING STONE, VISIONS, OX Fanzine, SHINDIG and many more) plus several compilation-tracks and nearly a dozen singles THE SATELLITERS cranked out another bunch of fuzz-loaded, farfisa- and blues-harp-driven 60s garage-punk-tunes which show that they definitely belong to the finest garage-bands around.
The latest recordings “NOTHING LEFT TO TELL” (2-track-45 on SOUNDFLAT RECORDS/Germany) and “ZAHSTETHOMALEX” (LP/ CD on SOUNDFLAT RECORDS/ Germany) definitely proved it!! A new LP of „nearly lost“ material will see the light of the day in January 2024 on SOUNDFLAT RECORDS/ Germany! In the moment the band is working with thier refreshed line-up on new material and recordings for more releases in the new year first followed by a recording of "Born Loser" of Murphy & The Mob for the compilation "STILL PRIMITIVE"
on Chaputa Records/ Portugalout in Feb 2026!
In the last more than 25 years THE SATELLITERS played dozens of shows in Germany, Italy, France, Austria, Switzerland, Netherlands, Belgium, Czech Republic, England, Spain, Denmark, Sweden, Norway and the USA. The boys were headlining their own tours from early on – creating their own strong followship. Promoters booked them even for the bigger Festivals. Just to name a few: the DIONYSUS DEMOLITION DERBY in Los Angeles in 1998, the GUTTER ISLAND FESTIVAL in Denmark in 2002, the AUGUST BANK HOLIDAY MOD RALLY in Margate in 2002, the PURPLE WEEKEND in Spain in 2002, the EURO YE-YE in Spain in 2003 and the FESTIVAL BEAT in Italy for 3 times - high-lighted by an appearance at the CAVESTOMP-Festival in NEW YORK in November 2007 (w/ THE SONICS`first gig in 35 years)!!!
Eine energiegeladene Frauenstimme, eine dreckige fuzz-Gitarre, agedrehte Orgelklänge, treibende Drums und groovende Basslines sind die Zutaten für die eingängigen Proto-Punk Riffs von Travis Bickle Experience. Inspiriert von den New York Dolls, Richard Hell’s Voidoids und anderen Helden des legendären CBGB’s und beseelt von einer düsteren Sehnsucht nach der Stadt die niemals schläft, liefert die Band aus Düsseldorf einen ganz eigenen Soundtrack zu dem berühmtesten Taxifahrerfilm aller Zeiten.
Unter dem Motto „Fuck art let’s Rock“ erzählt Sängerin Kiky in ihren Texten von den Absurditäten und Abgründen des Lebens. Ihre unberechenbare Performance macht jede Show zu einem wilden, unvergesslichen Spektakel, ihr Theremin sorgt für eine gesunde Prise Psychedelic in dem krachenden Glam-, Punkrock, Garage Sound der Band.
2012 gegründet von Gitarrist Zipppy und Frontfrau Kiky, erschien 2018 das Debut Album - Travis Bickle Experience - im Self-Release. Nach einigen signifikanten Veränderungen in der Zeit der Pandemie, geht die Band seit März 2023 in neuer Besetzung wieder auf die Bühne.
Back with a BANG! Die Aufnahmen zu einem zweiten Album sind abgeschlossen. Statt sich einem Label anzuschließen wird Travis Bickle Experience bald eine Kickstarter Kampagne starten um die Pressung der kommenden Vinyl zu finanzieren. Bis dahin - und darüber hinaus - wollen die fünf so oft wie möglich auf einer Bühne stehen.
