About this Event
Happy Black History Month!
Welcome to The Sankofa Cinema Club!
Come join us on Sat Feb 21, 2026 at The Macon Branch Library on 361 Lewis Avenue for an afternoon of film, fun and community. Our club celebrates the rich African history in cinema, showcasing powerful stories and talented filmmakers from the diapora.
We will see the film, Tell Them We Are Rising: The Story of Black Colleges & Universities. Black colleges and universities are a haven for Black intellectuals, artists and revolutionaries and have educated the architects of freedom movements and cultivated leaders in every field. TELL THEM WE ARE RISING: THE STORY OF BLACK COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES examines the impact these institutions have had on American history, culture, and national identity.
Grab some snacks, settle in and immense yourself in the beauty of African storytelling. Whether you're a film buff or just looking for a unique experience, The Sankofa Cinema Club is the place to be. Don't miss out on this opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals and discover new cinematic gems!
