What makes a performance exciting, moving ...unforgettable?
We hope that our European odyssey will lead us to an extra-special performance when we arrive at Christ Church Cathedral Waterford in Autumn 2023 to sing Handel's dramatic Oratorio Samson .
During the year Irish Doctors Choir, with Music Director Brian MacKay, will hold three workshops to take a singing 'tour' of Baroque Europe. Following in Handel's musical footsteps, we plan to absorb styles and ideas that will inspire our performance . We will also take the opportunity to meet and collaborate with many of the professional performers who will be on stage with us at Waterford.... including Samson and Dalila themselves!
As it was with Handel, our first stop will be Italy. How do singers capture the flare, freedom and sheer joy of the Italian style? A good question to start our journey with.
