Christmas is over, the wrapping paper's in the bin, and I'm still hanging around. We're heading to Hodge Park for the Holiday Run with US Road Running Races, a new-to-me crew serving up a 5K, 10K, and half marathon for anyone looking to burn off a week of cookies. I'm lining up for the 10K with legs in mint condition and a seven-minute commute, which makes this the easiest gift I've unwrapped all season (pending Mama Cosplay Runner's final ruling on the family itinerary).
Call it the sweet spot between the last of the leftovers and the first of the resolutions. I've been hung with care all month, and now it's time to come down off the tree, shake off the pine needles, and prove I can still stick a finish. A little twisted, a little refreshing, and fully committed to taking a sunrise and sprinkling it with dew. The Candy Man can, and so can you.
