The Rose and The Well
About this Event
Mariham. Myrrh-Bearer. Apostle to the Apostles. Watchtower. The Divine Wellspring.
Beloved. Rose Sister. The Anointed One.
Mary Magalene is known by many names. She is known by what she carries. Myrrh for the dead. Oil for the beloved. And the rose — which knows how to bloom and how to fall.
She is the well — the fountain of life, the living and holy waters, the sacred feminine depth, the place of divine encounter and recognition.
She did not look away from death. She walked all the way into it, tended it, and was the first to witness what comes after.
The rose carries this same mystery. It blooms, it opens completely, it falls. Life, death, life. The rose does not resist any stage of itself.
On her feast day we gather to walk with her through that same threshold — to anoint, to pray, to chant her name and honor the beloved in each other.
To let devotion teach us what it means to not look away.
And to sit at the well of her knowing.
***No prior knowledge of her history or practice is needed. Come as you are — with an open heart, a willingness to be held in circle, and any quiet longing that brought you here. If you feel called to the rose, to the ancient lineage of the sacred feminine, or to commune with the deep wellspring of your own inner knowing, you are welcome.
This circle will be guided by Alisa Shanahan and Alexandra (Lex) Chamizo, both healing arts practitioners where we work along side each other at the Chinese Medicine University. We've come together to offer this circle with our shared devotion to the Ancient Rose Lineage.
We aim to keep out circles accessible. If you would like to join but finances are holding you back, please reach out to us directly <3
You are encouraged to wear red and bring an offering for the altar, but it is not required <3
Bolsters, blankets and mats are provided. Please bring water and journal/pen.
