About this Event
Join us for a beautiful morning of creativity, tradition, and connection at our Romance Society Pysanky Workshop.
This is the 3rd event for us. I have traditionally held these pysanky egg decorating Easter parties annually for about 20 years. It's something I learned as a child and as a craft lover, decided to make it an annual affair! I thought it only fitting to invite you all to take part in the joy of this craft with me.
Pysanky is the traditional Ukrainian art of decorating eggs using beeswax and vibrant dyes, created through a delicate wax-resist process. Layer by layer, patterns emerge as wax protects sections of the shell while colours build, resulting in intricate designs rich with symbolism and beauty.
No experience is necessary — just curiosity and a willingness to slow down and create.
Your ticket includes:
• A guided pysanky workshop
• All materials and supplies provided (beeswax, candles, dyes, tools, eggs)
• Take home your finished pysanky eggs
• One drink (alc/non-alc) included with your ticket
• Small bites to enjoy while you create
This is a relaxed, welcoming space to sit together, learn a beautiful traditional craft, and make something meaningful with your hands.
Expect a cozy table atmosphere, flickering candlelight, and the quiet magic of watching your design emerge.
Details
Date: March 29
Time: 11:15 AM – 1:30 PM
Guests: Limited to 30–40 participants
Please wear clothing you don’t mind getting a little dye on — accidents can happen when working with wax and colour. I also recommend thinking about your design before the event, so you can get straight to work on it!
Here are some ideas:
Polka dots (2 colors) - this would be simple
Lines - squiggly, spiral, straight - add more colors
A name
Abstract
Intricate pattern - a more traditional approach
Come spend a few hours creating art, learning a new skill, and welcoming spring with us.
