About this Event

Leslie Elias is a storyteller and theater director who has been teaching drama in schools, theaters and public venues for over 40 years. She is the artistic director of Grumbling Gryphons Theater (recipient of the 2003 Connecticut Governor’s Arts Award). As a playwright, Leslie has authored numerous plays based on history, poetry, environmental themes and folklore from around the world. Her artistic mission is to provide children with an educational theater experience that is both participatory and empowering.

Leslie is the 2023 recipient of the Connecticut Artist Fellowship Award and the 2018 Connecticut Arts HeroAward. In this presentation, Leslie will talk about the role of interactive theater in educating audiences about complex environmental issues.
