This inaugural concert of Vox Alta — a collaborative group of eight sopranos and altos in the San Francisco Bay Area — will lead you on a journey that explores the meaning of home as both a spiritual concept and a physical space.
Vox Alta has an intimate sound, with many of the works performed by duets, trios, and quartets. The program includes music by Samuel Barber, Bela Bartók, Chen Yi, Stacey Gibbs, Fanny Hensel, Gyorgy Ligeti, Arvo Pärt, Stephen Paulus, Veljo Tormis, Dale Trumbore, and others.
This concert is a benefit for Oakland Elizabeth House, which provides transitional housing for Bay Area women with children who have experienced homelessness, domestic violence, addiction, or poverty. For more information, see @Oakehous or visit oakehouse.org.
