Enjoy a screening of Saranam Gacchâmi, a film by local filmmaker Priyanka Suryaneni. Immerse yourself in this captivating documentary that shares the story of Ven Thupten Donyo, a visionary Buddhist monk from the Himalayan foothills of Nepal, and his journey to establish one of the Bay Area's largest Tibetan monasteries, the Gyuto Foundation. This film has been selected for the Sacramento Independent Film Festival, Religion Faith International Film Festival, and LA Independent Women Film Awards.
Kunjo Tashi, president of the Tibetan Association of Northern California, and Tashi Phunstok, former Secretary of the Department of Information and International Relations of the Central Tibetan Administration, will then join the artists and filmmaker for a special panel discussion.
Afterward, try momos, butter tea, and other Tibetan dishes provided by Guru Curry House before heading to the Gyuto Foundation for an optional guided tour (begins at 6:00 PM).
Don't miss out on this unique opportunity to experience this thought-provoking film and learn about Richmond's Tibetan community. Mark your calendars and get ready for an unforgettable experience!
