The Rhode Island Festival of Children's Books & Authors returns to Lincoln School on Saturday, October 19th, from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. This beloved event brings together acclaimed authors and illustrators from across the country to celebrate the joy of reading.This year's festival boasts an impressive lineup of talent, including Caldecott award winners Dan Santat, David Macaulay, and Chris Van Allsburg; Newbery and Coretta Scott King award winner Jerry Craft; National Book Award Finalist Jarrett Krosoczka; and Rhode Island's own Tina Cane, Ann Hood, and Michael Ruhlman. Fan favorites Vanessa Brantley-Newton, Michelle Cusolito, Caron Levis, and Janae Marks will also be in attendance.
Attendees will have the opportunity to:
• Meet and talk with authors and illustrators
• Get books personally signed
• Participate in bookmaking and other crafts
• Enjoy a special performance
The festival kicks off with a special presentation by National Book Award winner Jacqueline Woodson on Friday evening. This year marks a special farewell as festival founder Chris Van Allsburg hosts his final event.
"This event brings literature to life for students across Rhode Island and beyond," says Meagan Lenihan, Lower School Librarian at Lincoln School. "Our goal is to inspire a love of reading that will last a lifetime."
