The Retrograde // The Lady Lovers // Class 23 (The Vagabonds)

The Retrograde - The young band lean heavily into the southern rock n’ roll sound of bands ranging from Lynyrd Skynyrd to more modern archetypes like Kings of Leon and Black Crowes, and would do all those bands proud. You can hear the soul in “Closer to Somewhere”, a high-spirited, clap-along track that will perfectly soundtrack festival summers. The more raucous “I Need a Little” is what will be blasting at the after party, with lyrics “I make the music in my head that makes you want to tap your shoes” blaring as beers are shared, a couple dance in the corner, and that one dude who always passes out is having his face sharpied while drooling on the couch.
The band also flexes their 70’s power ballad muscle on the six minute “If 6 Was 4”, which bleeds with Stonesy blues. They can also go toe to toe with heavier bands on the rock and roll circuit with tracks like “Come Around”, the feature ripping breakdowns and mega-riffage.
