Roots:
When I think about roots, I think about the garden. The roots are the foundation. If they can't go deep, find the nourishment, find the water, the plant can't grow… The deeper the roots, the higher the tree, the better the fruit, the prettier the flowers…
This past year, I've been rooting. I stopped touring, I stayed in one place. I didn't take flights. I played maybe two gigs outside of The Residency all year. I really rooted in my home, in my local community, in doing this every single week instead of chasing the next city. The Residency is my rooting project - It's me seeing what happens when we create in consistency…
Aviv Hadari and I both have our roots in Israel. And in that, we share a musical and cultural foundation: The Middle Eastern, Moroccan, Hasidic, Jewish sound but also food, rituals and language. Israel itself is eclectic, people came from everywhere, but there's still something we can all identify as Israeli, something in the sound that comes from there…
What would you define as your roots? And where in your life do you feel you need more rooting?
On Thursday, October 22nd, ITAI 🎷 welcomes Aviv Hadari for a "Swanning" experience rooted in shared soil, shared sound, and where we both come from.
We call it "Sound Connections" as in - connection with others, with self, and with something bigger than all of us... Step into the Swan Lake Circle. ✨
✨ Aviv Hadari
Aviv Hadari, born June 19, 1984 in Brooklyn NY, grew up in a Persian-Tunisian Israeli household, moving between Los Angeles and Ra'anana, Israel.
His musical journey took flight through heavy metal with the band Magor, culminating in a performance at Wacken Open Air 2014. After moving to Los Angeles in 2015 to attend Musician's Institute, he founded the project Consciously Dying, releasing music that ranged from original tracks like "The Delusions" to pandemic-era songs and imaginative covers. Alongside performing and recording, he built a teaching practice, "Aviv's Guitar Lessons," and began sharing insights through his podcast, "The Conscious Metal Podcast." Blending fierce riff-driven metal with a thoughtful, self-reflective edge, Aviv continues to evolve as a musician, educator, and creative entrepreneur.
Aviv also plays bouzouki, performing for the local Jewish Persian community — this traditional role sits alongside his heavier metal work, showing the range of his musical life.
This blend of heavy metal and Oriental roots brings Persian, Tunisian, Israeli, metal and Mediterranean sounds all rolled up into Aviv's unique musical voice.

*** The Dance floor can be a soft and vulnerable space. We like to be present with each other therefore we request it being a "No Phone Zone" (we will record the sessions and take some snippets which will be shared on the Sound Connections Patreon channel). For similar reasons, we would love to keep the dance floor a "No Shoes on the dance floor".

The Story of The Residency - Sound Connections:
From ITAI: "After years of touring the world and playing on the biggest stages I could imagine, I started looking for something deeper. Indeed there is real magic in playing in front of big crowds, yet I was craving something, an ongoing connection, to root into my community, and for that, I knew I needed a consistent local experience, which is how The Residency was born.
This new season of The Residency is about deepening our connection, as we grow as individuals and as a community. If the artists are the first swans, creating the spark together, this season is about the audience swanning as well, reflecting back at each other, and at the artists, in a beautiful swan lake of mirroring.
Every Thursday, we'll feature one very special guest artist, sitting across from me as we create the soundtrack for the night from scratch.
What is Swanning?
Like two swans facing each other in a moment of deep connection, this allows us to share and respond, creating something raw, alive, and unrepeatable. In this format, the audience surrounds the face-to-face artists which forms a circle that makes everyone part of the experience. Step into the circle (:
