THE REMEBERERS PRESENT "FIREBIRD"
The ReMemberers are a performance trio weaving ritual storytelling, global song and multi-instrumental virtuosity into an experience that feels part theater, part concert and part ceremony. Violet Southard’s numinous voice, Alex Harvey’s resonant strings and John deKadt’s percussive tale-telling create an atmosphere where ancient myths breathe again - told, sung and drummed into presence. Each gathering begins with an inherited wisdom tale and unfolds as a journey inward. Musical traditions from across the planet converge in this awakening of ancient folklore. The ReMemberers, in partnership with their audience, rekindle one of humanity’s oldest customs: coming together to listen, imagine and be transformed.
Their new work, THE FIREBIRD, is a thousand-year-old Russian folktale that's as resonant today as it's ever been. A poor huntsman catches a faint glimpse of the never-before-seen Firebird and his fate is sealed. Ensnared by the whims of a tyrannical king - the ego made sovereign - he stumbles deeper into complicity with an authoritarian regime, with no one but a talking horse to advise him. All the while something calls from a far horizon in his heart: a longing to know what lies underneath everything. Courage won't be enough to answer that call. Neither will serenity. Only a willingness to be completely undone. This evening will remain with you like an old friend returning home.
