Wednesday, October 7th. 5 - 7pm.
🎶Jazz Happy Hour at The Rose Bowl Tavern (Every Wednesday and Friday) features a rotating cast of the best local and regional musicians performing a diverse array of jazz styles and flavors. 5 - 7pm, start the evening with great music, tasty drinks and good times in a cozy-no frills environment!

Dr. Reginald Lewis is a saxophonist, educator, author, and arts advocate from Camden, New Jersey. At the age of sixteen, he received his first alto saxophone from his grandfather, Philadelphia jazz legend Robert “Bootsie” Barnes, whose influence continues to shape his artistic voice and commitment to jazz education.
Dr. Lewis is a Cannonball Musical Instruments Artist and Educator and a Vandoren Artist. He currently serves as Director of Jazz Studies at Illinois Wesleyan University and teaches Jazz Improvisation at Chicago State University. He earned a Bachelor of Music degree from Jackson State University, a Master of Music degree from the University of Manitoba in Canada, and a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. He also serves as President of the African American Jazz Caucus (AAJC).
A nationally recognized educator, Dr. Lewis has conducted Illinois District 2 and District 5 Senior Jazz Bands and was selected to direct the Illinois All-State Senior Jazz Band at the 2026 Illinois Music Education Conference. He is a published contributor to Teaching Music Through Performance in Jazz, Volume 3.
As a performer, Dr. Lewis has appeared in the Universal Studios film Get On Up, performed at major festivals including the Chicago Jazz Festival and Hyde Park Jazz Festival, guest conducted the HBCU All-Star Jazz Band at the Midwest Clinic, and released his debut album, Echoes of Cherry Street, in 2025.
