What is The Quiet Place?
The Quiet Place is a guided two-hour creative rest experience for busy minds.
(NO ART EXPERIENCE NEEDED)
This is not an art class. It is not about skill or performance. It is focused on the process, not the result.
It is a gentle, structured space where we slow down and reconnect — through breath, grounding, sound, light movement, journaling and intuitive mark-making. Similar to mindfulness, meditation, sound baths or yoga, The Quiet Place offers the same sense of rest and grounding — but here we use intuitive mark-making as our anchor.
This edition is a collaboration between visual artist Natalia Millman and fitness and wellbeing coach Antonia Bolino, bringing two practices together in one evening: the body settling through breath and gentle movement, and the mind quieting through creative expression.
Why?
Modern life is fast. We move from task to task, role to role, rarely stopping long enough to hear ourselves think.
The Quiet Place offers:
- A reset for your nervous system
- Space to soften perfectionism and pressure
- A return to self-compassion
- A chance to create without expectation
- A reminder that rest is productive
What to Expect
You will be guided through:
- A gentle arrival and grounding practice with Antonia
- Breathwork and light movement to release tension and settle the body
- A short sound moment to support the transition into stillness
- Guided intuitive mark-making with Natalia (no experience needed)
- Quiet reflection and optional journaling
Everything is optional. Only high-quality art materials and tools are provided.
About the Facilitators
Natalia Millman is a visual artist and creative facilitator based in St Albans. Her own practice began as a way to sit with grief, slow down, learn to let go of perfection and find another language when words were not enough. Over time, she saw how powerful this way of working could be — to listen inward, help regulate emotions, and support resilience and post-traumatic growth. The Quiet Place grows from lived experience, community-led work, and a belief that creativity belongs to everyone and can transform health. Natalia completed her Arts Council–funded project Letters to Forever (solo exhibition and workshops) in August 2025 in St Albans, attended by over 2,000 visitors. www.nataliamillmanart.com
Antonia Bolino is a fitness and wellbeing coach who guides people back into their bodies through breath, movement and sound. In The Quiet Place, Antonia holds the opening of the session — softening the body and breath so creativity can come more easily. www.antoniabolinofitness.co.uk
The Setting
Highfield Park is a 60-acre green space on the edge of St Albans, with woodland, meadows and gardens. The room we use is calm and light. Come a little early if you would like to walk the grounds first.
