"The event's name, The Purple Reign Luncheon, was chosen for the historical significance of the color purple. In October 1987, the first Domestic Violence Awareness Month saw widespread adoption of purple clothing, a tradition that has since solidified purple as the color of domestic violence awareness. The color purple evolved from the earlier use of lavender by domestic violence organizations.

'Reign' reflects the luncheon’s highlight: the honoring of the EXcelevating Crown Jewels, domestic violence survivors who are precious and invaluable, like jewels in a crown.

'Luncheon' signifies the grandeur of the festive occasion with City Chic elegance serving as an extravagant gathering for our esteemed Crown Jewels to feast."
