About Roni
Roni Maislish (born 1970) Clinical social worker and psychotherapist. He is walking determinately and uniquely on the path of inquiry his relationship with food and eating as its interaction with other relationships (money, career, friends, family, spiritually and more). His main interest in life is helping and raising the awareness of emotional eating and its implications on individuals, families and as a society. Many people might know (in their mind) that they are eating because they are sad or do not know how to dill with their emotions but often this understanding is not enough for going to the root of emotional eating and freeing them up.
Roni offers a path which he develops throughout the years. From his childhood and until the age of 29 he lost and gained weight every few years. Step by step he finds a unique way to help himself and then others (Quitting business career and becoming a therapist) while understanding that fat can't be viewed only as a disease, illness, problem to solve/getting cure of but as an inner sign or even a theater from the depth that try to communicate with us and the surrounding.
Through years of uncompromising studies and experience, Roni is going deeper and deeper to the “underground world" (unconscious world) or as he calls it – looking through our Relationship with food as a gate for change and healing. He helps on a daily basis individuals and groups to transform their relationship with food by developing new healthy inner structures.
From 2005 Roni has been working with patients dealing with emotional eating who suffer most from childhood trauma. Between 2018-2020 he worked in the Tel Hashomer (Sheba) hospital in an overweight treatment center (part of the endocrine institute). Between 2006-2011 he saw eating disorder patients (and their parents) in Soroka Hospital. From 2007 he worked as emotional eating's therapist. Roni leads groups both for therapist and non-therapists alike, that can last for one day or involve entire year-long dynamic studies. Besides working with patients, Roni is involved deeply in education-prevention roles in schools, pre-school and eating disorder clinics. He works with dietitians, mantel health practitioners, and many other groups educating them around the emotional aspects involved in obesity. In 2008 he participated in a six-day retreat in California led by Geneen Roth, the author of the bestseller "When Food is Love".
