About this Event
It comes from beyond…creeping towards you, closer with each day. There’s a voice that whispers in the dark, beckoning you toward darkened, hallowed halls. You see a hazy vision, becoming clearer: it’s…it’s…could it be? It’s the old building on the hill! As it comes into view, the voice draws nearer—summoning forth all manner of ghosts, ghouls, and, um…obscure costume characters. Now it’s right behind you—first a whisper, then a shriek: “Join us…join us…join us…FOR THE PRS HALLOWEEN BASH AND HAUNTED OPEN HOUSE!”
On the eve of the 31st of October, we will gather beneath the light of the moon, as the Philosophical Research Society’s gates creak open and we welcome you to an evening of live monster music, DJs and dancing, drinks, tarot readings, scary stories, strange cinema, a costume contest, howling “Skary’oke,” and Halloween happenings spread throughout our historic campus!
The night commences with a Haunted Open House, featuring special after-dark hours in the PRS Library, blanketed in darkness and lit only by the flicker of (LED) candlelight. There, we’ll host a Ghost Story Salon, inviting guests to share classic tales, personal encounters with the unexplained, or simply gather to talk about things that go bump in the night. Elsewhere, tarot readers await in the inner bookstore, while 7th House takes over the auditorium for an on-screen haunted happening, conjuring a strange collection of Halloween oddities, shorts, and other curiosities as still more surprises lurk throughout the campus…
Then, as the night grows darker and the bar materializes, the Bash begins! At 9pm, prepare for the monstrous melodic mayhem of the Midnite Monster Band, uniting Dracula, the Wolf Man, the Bride of Frankenstein, the Invisible Man, and more for an electrified blast of crypt-rockin’ sonic chaos! Once the monsters have returned to the shadows, it’s time to parade your most frightening—or funny, or both—finery in our costume contest, before our dastardly DJs descend upon the undead disco with dark designs to keep you dancing toward the witching hour! Or seize the mic and howl your favorite tombs—uh, we meant tunes—with some screamin’ “Skary’oke!”
So follow that voice from the dark, gather your fellow creatures of the night, and join us on the hill for a singularly strange and spirited Halloween at PRS! Costumes enthusiastically encouraged—all manner of humanoid creatures welcome!

REFUND POLICIES
All sales are final. There are no refunds for PRS events.
In the event that PRS is forced to cancel an event entirely, tickets will be refunded or vouchers offered for a rescheduled event.
PARKING
Limited parking is available onsite at PRS in both the front lot (entry from Los Feliz Blvd. when heading east), as well as street parking on Griffith Park Blvd. and (after 7 PM) on Los Feliz Blvd. We encourage attendees to consider carpooling, walking or biking to events if possible, and please be considerate of our Los Feliz neighbors when parking.
PRS EVENT POLICIES
- We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone.
- Events are subject to change without notice, including guest speakers and/or performers.
- We encourage you to arrive at least 30 min. before the scheduled event start time to find parking, enjoy the Bookstore and take your seats.
- Please turn off all mobile devices before the show. Talking and texting are not allowed during the events.
- No filming, audio recording or mobile phone recording of events, screenings, concerts or other programs by audience members is allowed without permission.
- There is no smoking permitted on PRS grounds.
- We strongly encourage guests to wear masks to PRS events to prevent the spread of infectious diseases.
- PRS allows Service Animals into the facility under ADA and state guidelines. For further details please visit www.ADA.gov. No animals permitted whose sole function is to provide comfort or emotional support, under ADA guidelines and CA Health Code.
- Please do not bring outside food or drink into PRS events.
- Weapons are strictly prohibited at PRS events.
