The Professor in Your Neighborhood: Christine Holbo on Mark Twain in the 21
About this Event
The Literature Program in the ASU Department of English presents the next installment in its Professor In Your Neighborhood series. ASU scholar Christine Holbo narrates "The Adventures of Mark Twain in the Twenty-First Century."
ABOUT THE EVENT
When Huck Finn lit out for the territories at the end of "The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn," he left behind an invitation for readers and writers to imagine what would happen to American literature’s most famous runaway. In this talk, Holbo will lead the audience on a tour of how twenty-first-century writers have taken up this invitation. She will discuss how contemporary writers have confronted controversial aspects of Twain’s novels and how they have borrowed and reimagined Mark Twain’s plots and characters to express their own visions of America’s past, future, and humor.
