About this Event

The Potomac River Jazz Club is excited to host nationally acclaimed jazz clarinetist Dan Levinson for out Spring Fling concert on Sunday, March 26, 2023, 1pm-4pm, at Rosensteel Hall in Silver Spring, MD. PRJC President Janina Roncevic Roncevic called Levinson a “force of jazz” and said she was excited to be able to announce Dan’s appearance given his extensive musical pedigree. Dan titles the concert “A Tribute to Benny Goodman.”

Levinson, based in New York City, has performed all over the world with a long list of notables including filmmaker Woody Allen, Mel Torme, Dick Hyman, and Wynton Marsalis. He’s been a long-time member of the famed Vince Giordano Nighthawks, has appeared on Conan O’Brien’s Late-Night TV show and Garrison Keillor’s A Prairie Home Companion. Dan has recorded on more than 150 CD’s (nine of his own) and is heard in the music of HBO’s “Boardwalk Empire” series.

Levison will be backed by Craig Gildner’s Blue Crescent Syncopators, a popular DC area dance band. Gildner, who has a long association with Levinson, helped plan for Dan to make the trek to DC.

Rosensteel Hall is located at 9507 Rosensteel Ave, Silver Spring, a few blocks from the Forest Glen (Red Line) Metro station. There is free parking available in the venue's lot and along the adjacent street. There is a well-stocked cash bar with some snacks available.

The Potomac River Jazz Club has presented monthly concerts and other events in the DC area for more than 50 years. It is committed to supporting what’s known as traditional jazz, the music created in New Orleans in the early 1900’s. It’s the foundation for all of the jazz forms that have evolved since then. PRJC underwrites jazz history education with a regular series of online jazz classes and it supports a youth jazz group, The Capital Focus Jazz Band. More about PRJC on its web site, PRJC.org.

PRJC’s programs are supported in part by the Maryland State Arts Council and the Arts & Humanities Council of Montgomery County
