About this Event

Since 2006, June of each year has been designated as Caribbean-American Heritage Month. This year the Premier Caribbean-American Heritage Month Event launches with its inaugural Scholarship Fundraiser Gala. Walk the red carpet with coverage by our official Media Partner Upscale Magazine. Join us as we feast, fest, and adorn Caribbean Chic formals to celebrate the rich heritage of our colorful people! Hear from the Honorable Caribbean-American Georgia State representative Donna McLeod, enjoy live entertainment from Julien Believe, the Mako Girls and more! Come out to win prizes and enjoy awesome surprises! All guests will leave with a Premier 'Scovery Jubilee Gala Gift bag filled with goodies from all of our partners and sponsors. Our scholarship award essay competition submissions are open now until June 1st, 2023. Email your PDF file entries to [email protected]. Please see entry guidelines below:

1) Open to 9th-12th grade high school students of Caribbean immigrant parents.

2) Submit a well-written, properly formatted 500-900 word essay on the topic: "Plugging the Brain Drain - Employing Skilled Workforce Talent in the Caribbean". Students should research the topic of the mass migration of Caribbean people to countries such as the US and Canada in search of higher-earning jobs or better odds at entrepreneurial success. Expand upon how governments and private businesses in the Caribbean may be able to win highly skilled professionals back to contribute to the development of the Caribbean region.

3) Documents must be submitted in PDF format and emailed to [email protected] with the following information:

a) Student's first and last name

b) Student's age, grade, and name of school

c) Parents'/Guardians' First and Last names and their countries of birth

d) Mailing address

e) Desired occupation - profession or area of business

f) Desired college/university

g) Photo *may be used on website and/or social media
