About this Event
Mass media and social networks have played an important role in disseminating information about public health during the COVID-19 pandemic. However, misinformation and fake news have caused confusion and insecurity among the public. Through social media, disinformation has proliferated, making it crucial for media outlets to rebuild trust in professional journalism at the grassroots level. This can be achieved by media literacy - which is the set of skills required to understand, analyze, and produce various forms of electronic communication.
We are inviting journalists and community advocates to hear from media professionals and to discuss how to thrive in the digital age and share sustainable and concrete solutions through the study of various actions in rebuilding trust in journalism. The panel discussion aims to explore the relationship between media literacy, transparency, ethical standards, and trust. Media literacy is an essential set of skills that is required to live, learn, and work in a society where communication and access to information are increasingly through digital technologies. The goal is to raise awareness and provide tools that enable users to become more informed users of media content.
