The Power of Honesty - writing workshop

There is an intersection between your writing and your personal development. In this four hour workshop, Hopper will be speaking on the power of honesty in the pursuit of personal growth, deeper meaning, and stronger relationships.
"Honesty" in western societies has been reduced to a simple code of delivering empirical facts, and then packed with compulsory moral weight. But the real sauce is in finding the courage not to recite an observation, but to observe. There is very little more harrowing in this world than to look into one's own eyes without trying to edit out or accentuate the blemishes.
We'll talk about personal narratives, how they obscure perception, ways to get in touch with a truer view of self, and how this shows up in your writing. Followed by quiet reflection, a topic based writing exercise and a group discussion.

Hopper Rickard (Virginia, 1983) is a writer, musician, and spiritual coach who focuses on empowerment through emotional honesty. Her philosophy of “nakedness before the self” invites people to replace shame with curiosity and meet the complexity of the human heart, where real deconstruction begins. Raised in conservative evangelical America, she entered university to become a minister and was recruited into a cult, which she later left by refusing to lie to herself. After isolation, poverty, and homelessness, she rebuilt her life—from journals burned for her beliefs to becoming a VP in news and web tech, and earning a degree in Anarchist Archaeology. Now in Berlin, she helps others find courage and self-truth. Blog: www.formoracle.com
