The Power of Fantasy and Science-Fiction

Beyond nurturing creativity and imagination, science fiction and fantasy can promote diversity and inclusion, encourages critical thinking, sparks reflection on values and ethics, relieves stress, and can be a catalyst for social change! In this presentation, we will dive into fantasy and science fiction texts including books and films — and celebrate the power of these multidimensional literary genres. In addition, Stetson scholar and rising author Valen S.S. Brown will read an excerpt from his own creative writing and share an original short story.
Valen Siddharth Shankar Brown is a student scholar at Stetson University double majoring in International Business and Professional Sales, and working toward minors in Asian Studies, Global Development, and Creative Writing.
