YOU'RE INVITED TO THE PORTLAND POLLINATOR HARVEST PARTY
Ever wondered what the difference is between native bees and honey bees? What they're busy doing all day? Have you thought about becoming a beekeeper, planting a garden full of flowers for pollinators, or tasting honey straight from the comb?
Come spend a morning with us!
Bee The Change Landcare invites you to a fun, hands-on celebration of bees, honey, habitat, and community, featuring some wonderful local educators and makers.
Together, we'll explore the fascinating lives of native bees and honey bees, the roles they play in our local ecosystems, and how we can build more reciprocal relationships with the pollinators who help sustain our gardens and food systems.
Whether you're a seasoned bee enthusiast or simply bee-curious, you'll leave with practical ways to support more resilient ecosystems for pollinators and people.
WHAT WE'LL EXPLORE
🌼 Planting for Pollinators & Habitat Stewardship
Discover how growing abundant flowers, food, and habitat can support healthy pollinator populations. Learn practical ways to take direct action in your own backyard, garden, or neighborhood.
🐝 Native Bee Cocoon Harvest | Bee The Change × Portland Fruit Tree Project
Get hands-on with Mason bee stewardship! Learn how to safely open nesting materials, harvest and clean cocoons, and prepare them for winter storage so the next generation is ready to emerge in spring.
🍯 Honey Harvest & Tasting | Bee The Change × Bee Built
See how honey makes its way from the hive to the jar with a freshly crushed honeycomb demonstration and tasting. Explore the incredible work behind every drop of honey and what a more reciprocal approach to honey bee stewardship can look like.
🌿 Pollinator Community & Local Makers
Meet the people behind Bee The Change Landcare, Bee Built, Portland Fruit Tree Project, and Sharotonin Signs. Explore bee houses and hives, locally harvested honey, preserves, garden signs, and opportunities to get involved in pollinator stewardship and local food resilience.
HAVE A MASON BEE HOUSE AT HOME?
Bring your filled nesting reeds or trays!
We'll guide you through the cocoon harvesting process so you can learn how to care for your bees through winter and prepare them for spring.
Don't have a bee house? You're still very welcome! Come learn alongside us and participate in the hands-on activities.
