The Ploctones

Back in 2014, The Ploctones made a big impression at On The Roof, and in the years since, the band members have returned in many different formations.
The Ploctones are one of the most energetic jazz bands in the Netherlands, setting sail with gale force ten and still managing to stay on course. Try to put them in a box, and they will deliberately colour outside the lines.
The band may have been anchored for a while, but its members have certainly not stood still. Martijn Vink is a highly sought-after drummer on the European jazz scene (Metropole Orkest, Maria Schneider Big Band, early New Cool Collective), and also plays with Anouk. Bassist Jeroen Vierdag has performed around the world with musicians such as Teus Nobel and Ramon Valle. Saxophonist Efraïm Trujillo won the Edison Audience Award in 2019 with his group The Preacher Men and has received critical acclaim for his new album Heroes. Founder, guitarist and in-house composer Anton Goudsmit released an album with his project Ton Petit and toured with, among others, Fugimundi and the soul-jazz group Montis, Goudsmit & Directie, closing the 2022 On The Roof season in irresistibly groovy style.
And so this year’s ‘connecting strings’ season comes to an explosive close. After all the reflection and moments of stillness, it’s time to really pluck the strings—or better yet… to ploc them.
Line-up:
Martijn Vink – drums
Jeroen Vierdag – bass
Efraïm Trujillo – saxophone
Anton Goudsmit – guitar
