Question: What do a pineapple, Hawaii and swampland in Conneaut have in common?
Answer: They all figure prominently in “The Pineapple Peril,” ABOB’s first-ever murder mystery dinner theater fundraiser.
In the original comedy script, written by Clay Nielsen, guests will witness a murder during a sister cities celebration between Conneaut and a town in Hawaii. They will have the opportunity throughout the evening to observe as suspects are questioned, to question the suspects themselves or even just sit back and watch the fun. At the end of the evening, amateur sleuths will have the opportunity to guess the identity of the murderer and win prizes.
There are 11 actors taking part in the production, including Director David Bucci, who also plays the part of bumbling police Chief Yul Getaway in the production.
Tickets are $40 each or $75 per couple. Entire tables (8 seats) may also be purchased for $300. Only 80 tickets will be sold, and they must be purchased by May 8 to allow time for the caterer to prepare the food. Dinner will be karate chicken skewers, rice, vegetables, bread and a dessert. There will also be a vegetarian option, which must be specified when purchasing tickets. Ticket purchase information will be posted shortly.
While this is the first murder mystery presented at ABOB, the genre is no mystery to the theater…as a matter of fact, ABOB grew from another theater group which had formed to professionally present murder mysteries at area wineries.
